About Me

I'm a retired dentist and amateur photographer living in Savannah Georgia.  I have been "behind the lens" taking pictures for more than 65 years. My main interest is landscape photography, however I have "shot", weddings, events and dabbled in still life and portraiture..  My first "good" camera was a Kodak Retina IIIc with a Synchro f:2/50mm lens that my dad gave me. This little camera has its own amazing story.  Dad had used the camera during his 4 year stint in New Guinea during WWII, but sold it in New York, when he advanced up to a Leica.  Years later, while shopping for a camera for me in Pasadena California he noticed that they had a Kodak Retina like his old camera, which he thought would be good beginning camera for me to learn about photography. During the process of buying the camera, it was discovered that it had come from the same camera store in New York where dad had sold it,  amazingly it was dad's old camera resurfacing in the very store where we were shopping for my new camera!  I still have the old Retina, however, currently my main camera is a Nikon D800 with several Nikkor lens which consist of: 14mm, f2.8,  50mm f1.2, 105 mm f:2.8, 24-70mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8, 300mm f2.8.  I, also, have a Fujifilm x100f that I use for street photography.  I must admit, however, that i don't always like to carry my heavy camera bag anymore full of all the heavy equipment, so I rely more and more on the camera I always have with me.............. my iPhone 15 Pro Max!
